11:03 pm	Tis the Season of Lenten Torture My officemates and I like to give things up for Lent, the fun part is that Matt does what he calls "solidarity" and gives up everything we give up. Last year I gave up masturbation, Anne gave up sleeping past 8am, daytime TV, sweets, alcohol and the snooze button, Scott gave up meat and cursing,(Vivek wanted to give up modesty, temperance and moderation but Matt was skeptical), Paul had to pray before every meal and Clark gave up soda and fingernail biting. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday...what sort of twisted anguish can we put Matt through til Easter? Current Mood: mischievous (Comment on this)

I'm about two thirds the way through my Christmas shopping. I'm pretty excited that not only do I get to ski for a few days over break but somehow we (my parents, Jeremy, me...maybe Jeremy's parents) managed to all coordinate our schedules for a March ski/snowboarding trip to Mammoth, a Byerly family tradition that died one year at Tech and my first year in grad school. I wanted to go on the Lloyd house ski trip but I guess it's kind of an inefficient use of funds to come back to Evanston on the 3rd of January and then leave again on the 6th. Brrr...it's chilly. If there's snow outside there ought to be mountains to make it worthwhile! Current Mood: cold (Comment on this)
